The Backstory: why isn't the maze open?

Two maze-seasons ago (that's about 12 dog years), we embarked on a regrading project. Well, the project got bigger than we first had in mind and has taken longer than we originally expected. But the final results will be great. When it's all done--for next season--three major improvements will have taken place that make it better for farming and better for visiting: 1) the field of the maze will have a uniform and gentler slope overall; 2) a broken storm water culvert that is supposed to run under the field will be repaired and replaced
and enable us to plow and plant more efficiently because the field won't be divided up; 3) Topsoils that have eroded downhill over the last hundred years or so will be redistributed uniformly, provide far better water retention in the soil, making for a much healthier corn crop overall.

And while you patiently wait until September of 2013,
think about what themes might make for a fun maze... and let us know.
