It's FUN • It's EDUCATIONAL • It's AMAZING
(But, it's just not quite ready for prime time this fall -- 2013)
What’s going on? It’s such an awesome maze! Why can’t we come?
Why can’t you come? Well, no corn has been planted, and you can’t have a corn maze without corn! So, now, three long maze-seasons ago (that's about 18 or so dog years and a lot of corn ears), we embarked on a regrading project. Well, it was always more than just a regrading project, but, no matter, the project got bigger than we first had in mind and has taken longer than we originally expected. But now, this fall, the beginning of the end has begun. Starting at the southern end of the field, the final grading and re-spreading of topsoil has begun--and it looks great!
When it's all finished--for the 2014 growing season--three major improvements will have taken place that will make for better farming and better visiting: 1) the field of the maze will have a more uniform and gentler slope overall; 2) a long-broken (like 50 years) storm water culvert that created erosion and other problems will be repaired; 3) topsoils that have washed downhill over the last hundred years or so will be redistributed uniformly, provide far better water retention in the soil and make for a much healthier corn crop overall.

See you in 2014
But while you patiently wait until September of 2014, there’s another really cool thing you can do in Storrs...there’s an incredible new place with trails and bridges and zip lines up in the trees! You should definitely check it out! And it's right around the corner from the corn maze. It’s The Adventure Park in Storrs, just a mile and a half away, down Route 195 toward UConn from Route 32. It’s kind of like a ski place in that there are different trails for different ability levels and you can go by yourself or with friends and have a great time either way. There are zip lines and exciting challenge bridges between trees. It’s really another kind of amazing. You don’t have to buy a ticket to check it out. You’re welcome to visit there and see what its about, and you should! Their hours and information is all on their website: The Adventure Park in Storrs.
